Mike took an interest in music from a young age, starting piano lessons in 1994, and drum kit/orchestral percussion lessons in 2000.

He started composing at the age of 15, working mostly in dance music of various genres ranging from trance to house. After completing various remixes of other artists for labels such as Ministry of Sound, he signed a deal with house label Cayenne Recordings. At 17, Mike began studying Jazz piano in addition to his ongoing classical studies, and also ventured into classical & jazz composition and arranging. At this time he also took an interest in commercial music, and began to teach himself orchestration. He started freelance work at the end of 2007, working as copyist on the pilot episode of BBC3's 'Being Human'.

Mike is currently studying Composition with Issie Barratt at Trinity College of Music, and has previously studied with Gwyn Pritchard, Paul Newland and John Thomas. Recent credits as composer include title music and beds for STV's Moviejuice, scoring three audiobooks for Big Finish's 'Dark Shadows' audio series and 'Uncle Gwyn's Posthumous Curse' for BBC Radio 4. As an orchestrator and arranger he has recently worked on Boots' 2011 Christmas ad campaign, which was recorded with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.
